July 29, 2024

Paris, 29 July 2024 – Seven2, formerly known as Apax Partners, a leading European private equity firm, announces the majority recapitalization of Lumion, a leading provider of 3D visualization software for the AEC industry, including architects, interior designers and landscape architects.

The Founders alongside the Management Team, led by Thomas Sønderby, will significantly reinvest alongside Seven2. This transaction, which represents Lumion’s primary majority transaction, underscores a strategic partnership aimed at accelerating the company’s growth and innovation.

Lumion, headquartered in Sassenheim, The Netherlands, is a leading provider of software solutions for the AEC industry, including architects, interior and landscape designers.

Lumion’s software creates high-quality, photo-realistic renders in real time through a sophisticated and user-friendly interface, making it an essential tool throughout the design process, from conception to ultimate commercialization. The company’s global distribution is supported by both a direct sales channel and an international network of resellers covering more than 110 countries. Over the past 18 months, Lumion transitioned to a full subscription model and has already reached c.€20 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR).

Seven2‘s investment positions Lumion for continued momentum in a rapidly expanding market, as the company embarks on future growth across the architectural workflow. Continued product innovation delivering best-in-class renderings, combined with ongoing professionalization in sales excellence, and customer success management will continue to drive rapid scaling of the business. Lumion will also consider targeted external growth opportunities, leveraging Seven2’s financial resources and extended network.

“This third investment in the Netherlands by Seven2’s MidMarket Fund X demonstrates our ability to identify attractive primary transactions across Europe. Having developed an exceptional product, Lumion is at a strategic juncture, primed to significantly accelerate its growth and solidify its position as a market leader. There are numerous initiatives to maintain a strong technological edge, enhance the commercial organization following the successful move to subscription, and address upcoming Generative AI opportunities. We are very proud to have the opportunity to partner with the Lumion team” said Henry Capelle, Seven2 Tech & Telecom Partner.

“We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Seven2, which will help us elevate our company and accelerate our product innovation. This partnership reaffirms our commitment to being the preferred visualization tool for architects and enhances our ability to add value to the broader AEC sector” stated Thomas Sønderby, CEO of Lumion.

Seven2’s investment is being made by its Seven2 MidMarket Fund X and APEO fund – its dedicated life insurance and capitalisation contracts fund.
